2008 Conference Theme

In keeping with the clear demands of CIOs associated with this event, the 2008 CIO Workshop is built on the continuing theme of Collaboration and Interoperability that has marked the last several years of workshop progress.  The particular focus of this year's event was determined by the Expert Advisory Panel during a meeting of the group in London in March of 2008.

A Word About Outputs

Takeaways from the workshop will include papers developed to capture the various discussions and findings at the event.  These are available only to event attendees (on this site they are in the Member's Corner page, and can be accessed with a password).  To provide an indication of the kinds of papers that are developed, one general summary paper has been made available here.

2008 Agenda, Topics and Format

The 2008 agenda can be found here. The Workshop will be centered on a theme that is an increasingly pressing need, which is the ability to develop IT solutions that will be robust in the face of changing needs of enterprises delivering solutions to the world's infrastructure issues. The topic this year is Information Management for Tomorrow's Asset  Infrastructure.

Topic areas to be addressed include:

  • Approaches to drive change through an organization to deliver sustainability.
  • Asset lifecycle requirements in the water, rail and energy sectors, now and in the future.
  • Zero asset management to make IT functions cost effective, flexible and robust in the face of change.

The program will parallel the very successful format used in prior years. Following a plenary session where a over-arching general topic is discussed, CIOs at the workshop will meet in breakout groups to interact, flesh out ideas, and address individual interests. The net result is a blend of structured content and ad hoc exploration which leads to an outstanding opportunity to learn.
